Water Types: Five Different Types of Water You Can Drink

Most of the people don’t know that there are different types of water available. There are basic water and many other types in it.

Water is good for health but not all types of it. There are certain types of water which are different.

You need to know the difference to make the right choice. Here are the 5 most common types of water you will find in the world.

Tap Water:

The most common type of water is tap water. It is available in every household and commercial area. Water is supplied from the mainline to different locations using pipes. When you turn on the tap, water will start coming out. It is available in the kitchen sink, toilet as well as the bathroom. Tap water is mostly safe to drink if there are filters. In US tap water is safe to drink. In other developing countries, it is not safe to directly drink the tap water. You need to boil or filter it before drinking. However, it is cheaper than other types of water and available in abundance.

Spring Water:

It is also known as glacier water. It is available in bottles. Moreover, it is expensive than most of the water types. As the name goes, it is collected directly from a spring or glacier. This water is clean. There are no toxins in it. As it comes directly from springs, there are many minerals in it. You will easily find this type of water in stores. You can choose the size of the bottle as well.

Mineral Water:

This is another common type of water you can use. As the name goes, it contains minerals. It is directly collected from springs where there are plenty of minerals. It contains minerals like calcium, sulfur and magnesium. This water has health benefits. It provides necessary minerals to your body. The taste is better than tap water. It also helps with digestion. However, it is costlier and available in bottles.

Sparkling Water:

This type of water comes with carbon in it. It is like a carbonated drink. Many people call it soda water. They infuse carbon dioxide in the water to make it fizzy. It has a different taste than normal water. You can either choose sweet sparkling water or unsweetened one. This water is also available in different flavours. You can choose from fruity flavours. It contains minerals as well. It can be bad for your health as it contains sugar and soda. Moreover, it is also expensive.

Purified Water:

This water is purified to remove harmful chemicals. It mostly comes from the ground. After that, they filter or purify it to remove toxins. They remove all the fungus, bacteria and other impurities. It is safe to drink. In most of the countries, people drink this type of water as no other source is available. The only drawback is that it can sometimes be harmful.

These are the five type of water you can choose to drink. Make sure you choose the best type considering the advantages and disadvantages.

Aggregate states

Depending on the temperature and pressure, the distances between water molecules are smaller or larger, and the connections between them are stronger or weaker, so water occurs in several states: solid, liquid and gaseous. The transition of water from one state of matter to another is achieved by increasing or decreasing the temperature. The water turns into a gaseous state by heating to a temperature of 100 ° C. In the gaseous state, water molecules are far enough apart that they can move chaotically without much collision. The transition of water from a liquid to a gaseous state is called evaporation. In the liquid state, water molecules are closer and they take the shape of the vessel in which they are located. The solid state is achieved by cooling to a temperature of 0 ° C. In the solid state, water molecules hardly move and build a solid crystal lattice. Unlike the liquid and gaseous states, the solid state does not have to take the form of the vessel in which it is located, but is in the form of crystals. It is less known that water partially evaporates at lower temperatures than 100 ° C, but not in large quantities. This evaporation allows water to constantly circulate in nature, from the earth to the clouds, and then back in the form of rain and other precipitation. Snow is also water, since each snowflake is an ice crystal of small dimensions. The transition of water from a solid to a gaseous state is called Sublimation.

Water anomaly

The water anomaly is very important for the life of all aquatic creatures. It is in fact a property that water that is colder than 4 ° C is always above water of 4 ° C. Ice has a lower density than water in the liquid state, so it floats on the surface. The water is densest at a temperature of 4 ° C, so in frozen rivers all the water colder than 4 ° C will rise to the surface. The anomaly of water enables rivers and lakes to never freeze to the bottom, so that living beings in rivers overwinter in warm water. Due to the geometry of its molecule, water has a number of specific properties, such as surface tension-characteristic that water forms a membrane on its surface, which allows water to always be kept together and, among other things, gradually form water droplets. The water is very rarely clean, without additives and impurities. Water that contains only H2O molecules is called distilled and is obtained only in industries and laboratories, by chemical distillation processes.
